Finding the right replacement cooling fan starts with five checkpoints: model number, dimensions, voltage, current and connector.
1. Check the Original Model Number
If the label is readable, search the original part number first. This is usually the fastest path to an exact replacement or a compatible alternative.
2. Measure the Fan Dimensions
Measure length, width and thickness in millimeters. Common sizes include 40x40x20mm, 80x80x25mm and 120x120x38mm.
3. Match the Voltage
Always verify whether the original fan is 12V DC, 24V DC, 115V AC or 230V AC. Voltage mismatch can damage equipment or prevent startup.
4. Compare Current and Performance Requirements
Current helps indicate motor load and performance class. When using a compatible replacement, compare current together with airflow, static pressure and application needs where possible.
5. Confirm Connector and Wire Count
A 2-wire fan, 3-wire fan and 4-wire PWM fan may look similar but are not interchangeable in every application. Check the plug shape and number of wires before ordering.
When to Ask for Help
If the label is missing or the fan is obsolete, use our Photo Support page and send a label photo, connector photo and the application details.
