How to Identify a Replacement Cooling Fan by Model Number, Size, Voltage and Connector
- 27 Jun, 2026
A replacement fan needs an electrical and mechanical match. Start with the complete model number and suffix, then check the frame or housing, mounting points, supply rating and connector. A matching base model or plug shape is only one part of the check.
1. Copy the full label, including the suffix
Record every model character, the manufacturer name, DC or AC supply marking, voltage and current or power as printed. Keep suffixes such as -K53 or -F00; do not shorten the number to a family name.

The ADDA data sheet lists AD0205MB-K53(S) at 25 × 25 × 6 mm. This manufacturer dimension is a useful reference; the photo itself is not a thickness measurement. Check the original fan with a ruler or calliper, including any pads or brackets.
2. Measure the complete assembly, not just the fan frame
Record width, height and thickness in millimetres. Also record mounting-hole spacing, screw locations, cable exit and the clearance around any duct, shroud or bracket. Photograph a ruler beside the part instead of estimating size from the image.

The ADDA model guide identifies the 07 frame code and F thickness code. Use it alongside the full model and actual assembly photos. The shroud, mounting and connector still require comparison with the part you are replacing.
3. Check the housing and outlet before comparing electrical ratings

For a blower, record the outlet opening, its direction and the intake clearance as well as the outer dimensions. An open-frame axial fan and an enclosed blower should not be treated as equivalent because both labels say 5V.
4. Compare electrical requirements and the actual connection
Copy the supply type and label ratings exactly. If a manufacturer sheet and a label show different current values, keep each value with its source and confirm the exact version; do not substitute one without checking. Obtain the exact-model electrical and airflow requirements for the equipment being repaired.
Count the actual wires and the connector positions separately. Wire colour, a 3-wire lead or a 4-position plug does not establish signal functions, polarity or PWM compatibility. Use the 2-wire, 3-wire and 4-wire connector guide for the required photos and checks.
Replacement request checklist
Copy this table into your request and mark anything you cannot confirm as “unknown”.
| Record | Details to provide |
|---|---|
| Identity | Manufacturer, full model and suffix; clear label photo. |
| Mechanical fit | Width × height × thickness; mounting-hole spacing; shroud or bracket dimensions; outlet size for a blower. |
| Electrical rating | DC or AC; voltage; current or power exactly as printed; exact-model manufacturer data if available. |
| Connection | Lead count, connector positions, keying, lead length and photos from both sides; pinout source if available. |
| Application and order | Equipment model, required quantity, destination and any delivery requirement. State whether each requested unit is a fan or a complete assembly. |
Missing a label or unsure of a suffix? Use Photo Support with the views above. Photos help identify what needs checking; they do not by themselves prove compatibility.

Reference notes
Dimensions cited here use the ADDA 25 × 25 × 6 mm sheet, AD0205MB-K53(S) and ADDA model identification guide. Labels, housings and lead observations refer to the existing product photos linked above. No pinout or interchangeable replacement is established by these examples.
